Biography of Calgary Criminal Lawyer, Tyson Dalhem
Tyson Dalhem
Born and raised in Saskatchewan, Mr. Dahlem returned to Saskatoon to attend law school at the University of Saskatchewan. While there, he was a College of Law team member that won the Western Canadian Trial Moot Competition in 1999 and placed second at the national Sopinka Moot Competition. In 2000, he competed in the bilingual Laskin Moot, where he and his partner remained undefeated in their competition rounds. The Laskin Moot is an appellate moot dealing with administrative law.
In addition to his law degree, Mr. Dahlem received a scholarship from the Center for Studies in Agriculture, Law and Economics at the University of Saskatchewan. Also, he studied law and economics at the Jönköping International Business School in Sweden. He began his legal career at the firm of MacPherson Leslie & Tyerman in Saskatoon, where he worked as an associate, mainly in civil litigation. In 2003, he moved to Canmore, Alberta, to join a smaller firm. He started his own firm in 2006, specializing in criminal defence.
Mr. Dahlem is fluent in French and has conducted lengthy trials in French as one of the few criminal lawyers in Alberta to do so. He has defended clients facing various charges, including simple theft and assault, impaired driving causing bodily harm, arson, sexual assault, break and enter, and more serious offences. He also has extensive experience in defending trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and proceeds of crime charges, as well as related search and seizure issues, due to his time practicing in Banff and Canmore. Additionally, he has a successful track record in defending impaired driving and other alcohol-related offences.
Currently living in Canmore, Mr. Dahlem has joined Dunn & Associates to better serve his clients outside of the Bow Valley.
