Biography of Calgary Criminal Lawyer, Ian McKay
Ian McKay
Ian McKay's career in law began in Regina, where he worked as a litigation lawyer. He later moved to Calgary and worked at the national law firm Miller Thomson LLP and a top construction law boutique in Canada. Eventually, his passion for criminal law led him to accept a position as a Crown prosecutor in Calgary, where he prosecuted a wide range of cases, from summary offences to major sexual assaults and murders. In 2006, Ian McKay left the Crown prosecutor's office to focus exclusively on criminal defence and has since built a reputation as an expert in the field, successfully defending clients charged with various offences under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Ian McKay has also consulted on cases in the United States, specifically in the state of Colorado.
Ian McKay has a strong background in both prosecution and defence, which gives him a unique perspective on criminal cases. He is skilled in handling complex criminal prosecutions involving electronic searches, drug offences, and corporate crimes. Prior to starting his own firm, McKay Ferg LLP, he worked with renowned criminal defence lawyers C.D. Evans, Q.C., Patrick C. Fagan, Q.C., and A. Clayton Rice, Q.C. at Evans Fagan Rice McKay.
